FunnelBrain co-founder Robert Dennison named Texas AP Teacher of the Year

Robert Dennison, a co-founder of FunnelBrain and a member of FunnelBrain’s Advisory Board, has been recognized as the outstanding Texas AP teacher of the year.  Mr. Dennison received the O’Donnell Texas AP(R) Teacher Award for his outstanding record as a teacher of Advanced Placement classes, in which high school students master college level material.  The award, which included a $30,000 cash prize, was presented on November 7th at the College Board Forum luncheon in Houston, Texas. This is the first year the award, named for Dallas philanthropists Peter and Edith O’Donnell, has been presented.

Robert Dennison is the Advanced Placement (AP) Science Lead Teacher for the Houston Independent School District. He has taught all levels of high school biology during his 30-year career in Houston, Texas, and has been a consultant for the College Board since 1995. He is a frequent presenter at local, state, national, and international science and science teacher conferences.   He is a past President of the Texas Association of Biology Teachers and was recently elected to the Board of Directors of National Association of Biology Teachers for 2009-2011. He has won numerous teaching awards, including the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award from NABT, the Honorary Life Membership Award from TABT, the Siemens Award for Advanced Placement, an Advanced Placement Special Recognition Award from the College Board, and the HEB Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching.
